Within the last few weeks, I've seen: rufous hummingbird (bzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZ) purple finch (while staring at a family of finches in an oak tree, I got buzzed by a hummingbird, and had the sh*t scared out of me - he flew within an inch of my ear!!!!) black-headed grosbeak (looks like an oriole with a finch beak) american goldfinch (noisy little guy) western tanager (saw this one, just this evening. thought he was a goldfinch, until I saw the red head) yellow-throated warbler (the lone ranger of birds) yellow-rumped warbler (both the Audobon's and MacGillivray's) orange-crowned warbler (shy little guy) pileated woodpecker (sitting on a nearby telephone pole - I don't think he found very many bugs there) red-breasted nuthatch (this guy doesn't know which way's up) and at the coast: cormorants (probably Brandt's) pigeon guillemot white-winged scoter common loon western grebe Dale Henrichs Beaverton, Oregon ...tektronix!tekcae!daleh
