My partner once decided to use a convention I didn't know, with predictable results. We were sitting N-S. While the other N-S diamonds were overbid (E-W makes 3H), we went 6NT, down 6, redoubled (my partner, again), and vulnerable. Fortunately, this was back when the little clubs were all using match points, so we merely got stuck with low board. Our opponents for the table also bid and made two large slams, leaving us with 1 match point. Never trust a sweet pair of little old ladies with long spades.
