To spare us all yet another repetition of this discussion, the consensus is that it is due to the fact that the net is far from sexually balanced, being at least 2/3 male. This newsgroup is, unfortunately, no exception. GREG P.S. About "fickle men": that is a two-sided coin. In my last several relationships (including the current one), the woman has always felt obligated at some point to tell me she can't deal with a commitment (not that I ever explicitly asked for one).
