I think that at least at first, as you stated in your article, it would be very difficult to suddenly be "just friends" with someone you had previously been intimate with. At least, it would be for me. After a while, it would be easier. My recommendation would be to first get used to living without her before you try to be friends, especially if you still have some of the warm and/or sexual feelings towards her. It's best to let those die first before trying to change a romance into a friendship.
