The most recent Science News told about a new U. of Michigan study
that shows only about 7% of the people on welfare at any one time
are semi-permanent welfarites. Most of the people who take welfare
take it for a short time, just long enough to recover from some crisis
in the family. A bit more encouraging than most reports these days.
But it's not like the whole NASA budget would do much more for
social services.
