It's really a sharp looking ship. Okay, I haven't seen it yet. But I saw a photo of the Excelsior's bridge, featuring Capt. Stiles (James B. Sikking). Twice the familiar size; so you lose any sense of intimacy with the bridge crew. Feh. I'm dubious. The Enterprise is an absolutely gorgeous ship, and became even more so after the *minor* changes made for ST:TMP. But I can't see the Excelsior-class ships looking better than the Enterprise. More powerful, sure. But it can't be as aesthetically beautiful. From one who thought Kirk's flyover of the Enterprise was the best scene of ST:TMP... --Stewart Wiener / Princeton Univ.
