Other notables in the cast for this episode: Gary Lockwood played (Lt.?) Commander Gary Mitchell, Sally Kellerman played Dr. Elizabeth Dehner, and William Shatner played Kirk for the first time. [Actually, he played James R. Kirk, not James T. Kirk, unless Mitchell made a mistake in carving the tombstone. We were never told what the "R" was supposed to stand for.] Well-known stuntman Hal Needham doubled for Lockwood, I believe. This pilot was also shown as a first season episode.
