 I'm new to the net, so I humbly beg forgiveness if this subject has     
 been covered before.

What about Star Trek episodes based on movies?  The plotline of 
"Balance of Terror" is EXTREMELY similar to that of a late 50s/early
60s war movie.  There are similar plot twists, similar characters, but
the endings are slightly different because ST is (was) a series.  
Can anyone:
          1.  Name that movie
	  2.  Find any other close ST/movie simularities?
(For those with less than total episode recall, "Balance of Terror"
is the one with the Romulan "Bird of Prey" ship attacking Earth
outposts.)
