I'm sorry I didn't respond to the TV poll, considering how far down it was. With each episode we get inside these two very complex women (and their cohorts, to a much lesser extent); I can hardly wait to see the new sides of them each week. The thing that first enamored me to this show was the surprising elements of their personalities. Mary Beth Lacey looks and sounds tough, what with thick Brooklyn accent, and I had never expected her to be the sensitive one; the same is true of her husband. Christine, on the other hand, is beautiful, but she's the tough, cold one who is unlucky in love; it's a whole new side of Sharon Gless, at least for me. I don't think I've ever noticed Tyne Daly before, so I certainly can't make any similar comparisons for her. The two of them work together and complement each other so well; they are the best team since Hawkeye and Trapper. Cheers again to CBS for bringing this wonderful show back. I didn't watch it religiously before it was canceled, but now I make sure I see it (I now have a VCR, so I never have to miss it for any reason); I guess this is the problem that caused it to be canceled in the first place. -- Barry Margolin ARPA: barmar@MIT-Multics UUCP: ..!genrad!mit-eddie!barmar
