One of the items in Timelord history that they are not too proud of, is the
use of the Timescoop ( "The Five Doctors" ). In ancient times, they used to
pluck beings from other worlds and times with this device, drop them in a 
very desolate spot on Gallifrey ( the name "Death Zone" comes to mind, but 
I'm not sure on that point ), and have them fight to the death. Rassilon
put a stop to this practice ( supposedly. In "The Five Doctors", one of the
Doctor's (Troughton) states that is what the "official" history says, but
there are rumors that the "official" Timelord history may not be a "factual"
history ).
