": Event not found. % is not the "'", but the "!", which evokes the history mechanism of csh. %echo "Don't do that" and %echo "Don't do that\!" work just fine. Having to, occasionaly, backslash-protect the "!" is a small price to pay for having history. Evoking the mechanism inside quotes is probably a bug in csh, but easily overcome.
