Sloane It was a pretty silly question, Mr. Sloane, but I forgive you, just this once. Neurons will misfire in the most agile and knowledgable of brains. I wish, however, that those of you in Info-Unix Land who pounced upon Mr. Sloane had read the rest of your mail before responding to his seemingly naive question. Judging from the dates on your messages, many of you must have been so anxious to display your prodigious knowledge of the csh that you shot back replies immediately, not noticing that dozens of others had already enlightened him (needlessly, it turns out). My plea to all of you is thus: the next time some poor fool asks a question with an incredibly obvious answer, don't make a fool of yourself by regurgitating said obvious answer to all of info-unix. Mother is proud that you read your Unix Programmer's Manual, but the rest of us don't care. Brandon Rigney (trip@RICE.ARPA)
