You need a good, solid, unscrambled picture for a VCR.  In particular,
the sync must be stable and correct.  Just TRY record a typical
scrambled signal--it's fun listening to the drum servo going:
"Whirrrr, whirrrr, whirrrr" as it tries (unsuccessfully) to lock
onto the scrambled sync!
