One possible reason why death rates have gone up with the 55 mph is that
when the limit was 70 mph everybody ran about 70 mph, where as today
with the 55 mph ,you have people going 55, 60, 65, and 70 mph.. This
makes for a very unsafe condition.

p.s. I think death rates went down when 55 was first installed, because
everybody slowed down in the beginning.
