Lines: 19 No other state has a seat belt law, as yet, however, in the rules requiring air bags in all cars by 1988 or so, the government has said that it will drop the requirement if 2/3 of the states adopt seat belt laws by 1989. Since auto makers have not been too excited about air bags, I think we will see a lot of money going into lobbying efforts to get seat belt laws passed at the state level. In an aside, Gov Cuomo signed the seat belt law this morning, real fast. It seems he was involved in an accident yesterday, but, because he was wearing a seat belt, was not injured. Talk about coincidence? For all those who think the Gummint shouldn't get involved, I don't suppose you remember when they passed the law requiring seat belts to be put in all cars? This was another fight that went on for some time. T. C. Wheeler
