Having been a resident of New Jersey for 3 years now,
I have come to the conclusion that the state bird is
the ubiquitous shopping cart. You see them everywhere,
particularly in the swamps and vacant lots which surround
their breeding grounds (Shop-Rite and Pathmark stores).
They like to fly into cars on windy days, but I think
a recently enacted state law makes it illegal to kill
or capture them.
