Lines: 13 Actually: Except in California, where there are State laws restricting the possession of fully automatic weapons (maybe there is another State I am not aware of), there is nothing in federal law to prevent you from paying your $200 registration fee to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and then purchasing a fully automatic weapon from a Class III Firearms dealer. Since the masacre in question was in San Diego, California, if the weapon used was indeed the fully automatic UZI submachine gun versus the California legal semiautomatic version, then it would have been illegal.
