The UZI is NOT easily convertible between its two versions, the US semi-auto,
and the standard full auto machine pistol.  The semi-auto fires from a closed
bolt, the full-auto from an open bolt.  The barrels are interchangeable, but
so what.  You CAN NOT buy the semi-auto and convert it to full auto by simple
interchange of parts.  It also takes a license from the BATF to "manufacture
a machine gun" which is the category they classify conversions in.  And,
again, it is NOT illegal to own a machine gun in the US.  In California it
is illegal.  There ARE NO FEDERAL LAWS against ownership of machine guns.
Just a $200/year license fee PER weapon.

Guns don't kill, people do.
Outlawing guns won't stop people killing people.
There are very few tools (thats all a gun is) which can not be applied to
the purpose of killing someone.  A shovel, an axe, a kitchen knife, etc.
Lock up the killers permanently, and DON'T let them back out in seven years
for good behaviour.  Better yet...lock 'em up for seven years to let the
statute of limitations pass, and make sure they were guilty (past the time
for retrials in case we accidentally got the wrong guy), and THEN execute
them.  Don't prevent law abiding citizens from defending themselves, because
the police CAN'T do it for you.  
Attack the courts/jails/parole boards for releasing known criminals to repeat
their crimes.  KILL the bastards (the criminals) rather than giving them a
free lunch as reward for anti-human activity.  The world is overpopulated as
it is, without keeping a bunch of anti-productive assholes at society's expense.
