NO, NO, NO!!! There is NOTHING illegal or wrong with carrying around a weapon
in public.  They exist to protect your life.  You can carry one (non-concealed)
in ANY public place just like a cop does.  There's no reason you should not be
able to defend your own life with one (yes...just like in the "wild" west).
There aren't enough police (nor would we want that many) to keep your ass alive,
you have to do it yourself.  
The point is to outlaw the criminals, not the tools of defense.
Don't take away my protection.  Take away the threat to humanity...those
people whose disregard for other humans is so great that they would violate
the rights of others for a few dollars from some store.

I can't believe (well, I don't want to) how dependent on big brother everyone
WANTS to be.  YOU can make a citizens arrest. YOU can carry a loaded weapon in
public.  There's nothing magical about police except that they've been trained
at tax-payers expense for the job.  YOU can do the same job yourself.  YOU can
shoot or arrest a criminal, and take him to trial.  When "they" take away the
rights of the average citizen to protect himself from having his rights violated
by some scumbag, we truly will have a police state.

If you don't want criminals running around robbing and shooting, then outlaw
criminals...write your parole board and tell them you want murderers given
life sentences, or executed.  You can't stop the antisocial activities of 
criminals who are released on society by taking away the tools of defense of
the law abiding citizen.  Damn, there are a lot of fascist police state
advocates out there.  Kill the damn criminals...don't try to take away my gun.
Or I just might mistake you for someone advocating the overthrow of the
CONSTITUTIONAL government (not to be confused with any existing governing
bodies).

Homework assignment:  Read the constitution and the bill of rights and the
ammendments.
Nationwide polls have found in many cases that the majority of the average
populace fails so miserably at understanding their constitution that they would
deny same rights to themselves and their fellow citizens.

Big Brother has arrived, and he is you.
