     Once while playing Advanced Rogue 1.0, I was fighting a tough
Specter on level 19.  In fear of losing experience levels and being low on
hit points(50), I decided to zap the monster with a wand of polymorph.  
I thought the wand would polymorph the specter into a harmless rabbit(rat),
but what a mistake!  Suddenly, Orcus, the Prince of the Undead,
appeared and wiped me out with a 12-die lightning bolt.

Questions: Was this wand cursed? Was this polymorphed creature acutually Orcus,
or is the polymorphed creature a imitation of Orcus?

Another question:  How do you use a staff of Cancellation?

5.2, 5.3, ect, players very welcome to answer because the games are very 
similar.
