  About all I can remember is that the gorilla had an accent like C3PO's.
However I do recall that the elephant's name was Shep (sp?)
The lyrics to the opening title song went something like this:

    "George,George,George of the jungle friend to you and me,
    AHHHHHHHHHH!, watch out for that tree!"

and then something like

    "and away he'll schlep on his elephant Shep"
