When I called suburban Philly directory assistance to get my in-laws' home
phone, they gave it to me as KI3-nnnn instead of 543-nnnn.

In Pittsfield, MA, you can omit the first two digits of the exchange, ie.
dial 2-nnnn instead of 442-nnnn.  (Apparantly this was a concession to
public uproar over being forced to dial two extra digits when All-Digit
Dialing was instituted 20 years ago.)  Many delivery trucks, ads, etc.
still use the 5-digit form.
