You're right that VMS is incredibly gross and offensive.  It probably
isn't as bad as some by IBM though.

On the other hand ITS is neither gross nor offensive.  It's not user
friendly (but it wasn't meant to be) and it has no file system, but
other than these two things, it is one of the best around if you
consider it an operating system by hackers for hackers.
