Walt Kelley was not only a brilliant cartoonist, but his genius adapted well to music, too. One of the songs was reminiscent of the "sad violins" number described in the previous article; it began on a slow and philosophical note: Have you ever while pond'ring The ways of the morn Thought to save just a sip, Just a drop in the horn? To pour in the evening, Or late afternoon Dah dah dah dah dah dah [MEMORY FAULT -- CORE DUMPED] By the light of the moon? Have you ever cried out, "Boys (The music swells, and This life is for squirrels... a sassy trombone enters) We're off to the drugstore To whistle at girls!"
