Ah yes, I have been reminded that the source of the pun was indeed
Spider Robinson's "Callahan's Crosstime Saloon". This is a marvellous
book, indeed. Robinson has an extraordinary punning ability,
and loves them (the louder the groan the better) as much as I do,
which says a lot.

Sorry for the lack of a reference previously. I couldnt recall
where I'd seen the joke before -- I could remember only the
pun-ch line. (ouch)
