I am planning to purchase in the near future a decent surge protector/EMI/RFI
line filter.  The device will be used  to  protect  hi-end  stereo equipment,
video equipment, and a Televideo 950 terminal and Hayes Modem simultaneously.
I have looked at many different  brands,  including  The  Orange,  and  other
various brands.  I have tentatively decided on a device  made  by  Electronic
Specialists, Inc., of Massachusetts.  This company makes a complete  line  of
surge protectors and related equipment.  The model I am planning to buy  runs
about $213.95, but before I part with my money I would like the  opinions  of
everyone out there in net land.

The model in question, called the "Magnum Isolater ISO-17, has the  following
specs:

Filter:                                      Spike Suppression: 8/20 usec.
o Quad Balanced-Pi                      o Input Suppression 6,500 amps
o 10 Khz to 200 Mhz                     o Distributed Supression 26,000 amps
o 65 db EMI/RFI attenuation             o Total Spike Absorption 32,500 amps
o Quad Inductor ground Isolation

This model, in addition to being a surge protector  and  line  filter,   also
isolates each outlet from the other so that there  is  a  reduced  chance  of
equipment interaction through the power line.  

Unfortunately, I am not as up on my circuit theory as I used to be, and so  I
think I would be better off buying this device than building my own.

Does anyone have any experience with this company's products, or  can  anyone
tell me if the above specs are poor/fair/mediocre/excellent???   I  would ap-
preciate any advice or suggestions.
