There are supposedly 17 NEW medal-award sports in this year's summer Olympics.
I know a few of them.

-- Surfsailing
-- Synchronized Swim
-- Women's Marathon
-- Women's Cross-Country Cycling (I'm not sure if this includes sprint and
   pursuit competition)
