It was flawed though. The very beginning, and the very end seemed tacked on and overly hokey. I've seen zillions of old campy and not so campy horror, science fiction and gross-out movies. Gremlins was filled with jokes and allusions to these movies. If you like the genre of cheap horror and sick humor then you will love gremlins. Of all the criticisms I disagree with, the one I disagree with most is that the horror and the humor don't flow well together. I thought that was the movies strongest point. In my mind, Spielberg did a fairly respectable job crossing alien, ET, the wizard of Oz, the blob, Texas Chainsaw massacres, its a wonderful life, star wars, and just about every other sick movie made, while still maintaining a high level of originality and surprise. Has anyone seen Conan the Destroyer?
