Message-ID: <481@trwspp.UUCP> Date: Mon, 2-Jul-84 18:05:26 EDT Article-I.D.: trwspp.481 Posted: Mon Jul 2 18:05:26 1984 Date-Received: Wed, 4-Jul-84 05:00:59 EDT Organization: T R W, Redondo Beach, CA Lines: 18 Much of Gremlins is very reminiscent of a movie I saw many years ago on the tube called "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark". The movie was about a couple who move into a house which has a room which they are warned not to go into. Well, they go in, and they find a fireplace which is bolted shut which they are warned not to open. Well, they open it. These ugly little monsters come out, are very mischevious, are afraid of the light, etc. Again, they terrorize the woman of the house, and in one scene she even uses a flash camera to scare them away (sound familiar ?!). Personally, I thought that DBAotD was much better (and scarier) than GREMLINS and it didn't cost me $5 and an hour in line to see. Another scene in GREMLINS (involving a chainsaw) looked an awful lot like a scene in what I believe was the scariest film of all time, "The Last House on the Left". I guess a big budget does not a horror film make, eh? Lee Hasiuk
