I doubt that it will "quieten down" (i.e., "quiet") many critics.  A
donation to charity, whether motivated by a desire for publicity or by
genuine good will, will not add talent where it is lacking.

ALso, it's a fair question whether this move may have been made necessary
by the stink over the amount of money earned in interest on ticket purchase
money held for a while.  I'm not accusing, but it's certainly the case that
the Jacksons are big business more than big music, and big business has its
necessary politics.
