A question was asked about why no one ever hears of alterations to standard color negative development procedures to get better grain, etc. I believe that reason is that the three color layers in the film would respond differently to procedural alterations. This would lead to negatives in which highlights have one distinct color cast and shadows have a different cast. Such errors cannot be easily corrected by printing filters.
