Message-ID: <1113@cvl.UUCP> Date: Tue, 26-Jun-84 11:59:54 EDT Article-I.D.: cvl.1113 Posted: Tue Jun 26 11:59:54 1984 Date-Received: Sun, 1-Jul-84 02:27:17 EDT Organization: U. of Md. Computer Vision Lab Lines: 18 Gordon (and everybody else), I believe I draw the distinction between "mind" and brain in the following way. The brain is matter and chemical/electromagnetic reactions and whatever else goes on in there. The mind is a thing which all those dead Greek people defined to exist. Therefore, since I define it, it exists. Seriously though, I consider the mind to be the effect of the brain on the person--the controlling mechanism. Then again, I also believe there is a part of a person which exists separately from this mechanism though. This is the part of me that just sits there and watches. Wadda ya think?
