A Cthulhu Mythos related novel is The Philosopher's Stone by Colin
Wilson.  The mood, imagery and plot are in the tradition of ol' H.P.,
and the author is a fine writter.  The author has other fine works, one
of which, The God of the Labyrinth  can also be considered a fantasy.
His only science fiction work, The Space Vampires is best left unread.
