As soon as they found out they were trapped (before the Dooomsday's tractor
beam) they should have had one of the Enterprises' shuttle crafts come over
to Decker's ship and pick them up.  It's true the doors may not have worked,
but don't you think they had space suits (Re: Tholian web) ?
