I thought he was egotistical, but definitely not a jerk. He was very patient and charming even when mobbed by fame-crazed animal-like people. His public personality is very Dr Who-ish, complete with all the wonderful facial expressions and great smile. I got the impression that hardly anyone gets to see his private personality. As for the 5 Doctors, he gave two different reasons why he didn't appear: twice he said that he had been too possessive of the role, and didn't like to see others playing it; and once he said he didn't want to appear because he had just quit as the Doctor when they began shooting 5 Doctors, and didn't want to play the part any more. In a short interview for Philadelphia PBS station WHYY, he allowed as how he didn't think too much of the Dr. Who scripts. One wonders how he survived his appearance on Remington Steele, which has some of the worst scripts I have ever seen. (The "non-zany adventures of Robin Hood" weren't too good, either...) --Sally Handy-Zarnstorff AT&T Bell Laboratories, Short Hills, NJ ..!ihnp4!hlexa!shz Trivia fans: What was "Newton's revenge"? and what's "all the rage in Trenton, New Jersey"?
