Lines: 33 From: jeff (Jeff Frey) Subject: public conveniences, coed Britain, always a leader in public conveniences, has now introduced on-the-street Superloos, [nominally] one-person conveniences usable by both sexes. Unfortunately they look like 21st-centry chemical toilets but in fact they're fiberglas sealed capsules that cost 10p to use (about 13c) and have music (I heard Jackson's "Beat it"--sort of appropriate maybe; wonder if they every change it?--and most important, after each use the whole interior is automatically washed down with some sort of sanitary solution to maintain the healthfulness of both the vapours and the hardware. Inside, besides the loudspeaker, there's a seatless bowl (well who really neds a seat anyway) washbasin, faucet, and paper towels. Women in Britain have always been annoyed by having to "spend a penny " to use the stalls in their conveniences (I never have seen a man's P.C. not paired with a womens') whereas most of the time men could perform their functions free, but now everybody has to spend 10p.
