If all you want to do is make square waves a D to A is just fine. The thing generates unbelievably high frequencies every time it steps from sample to sample. The hard part is filtering these out of the signal. It is not easy for the CD player to determine the difference between a switch between two values of a fast waveform and high and low values of a square wave. -Ron
