Lines: 14 Re the NCIC being keyed by SSN: I doubt it (although I may be wrong), since the Social Security Administration is fairly adamant about not disclosing SSN's. All the police Operation ID flyer's I've seen around here (Northern NJ and NYC) and in the Boston area when I was a grad student at MIT explicitly say NOT to use your SSN for this purpose, since the police cannot get the number. They recommend use of driver's license numbers instead, and I think driver's licenses are the key to the NCIC data base. My original article was directed to those of us who can't or don't drive, and I suggested several alternatives that could be obtained relatively easily, like ham radio calls and equipment serial numbers (which can be given to the local police for entry into NCIC).
