I have a 1974 Pinto station wagon with a little over 100K miles on it.
Occasionally at highway speeds the alternator light comes on.  I can
get it to go off by turning ON the parking lights or, if that fails,
the headlights.  After a while I turn off the lights and the alternator
light doesn't come back on.  The alternator belt is relatively new, in
good condition and reasonably tight.  Does anyone have an idea what is
happening?
