Lines: 9 Dennis Gibbs suggests that methanol is a cheap ingredient - in a recent article on NPR (All Things Considered) they said that alcohol was a rather expensive anti-knock ingredient. I'm not clear as to whether we are talking about methanol or ethanol here, but presumably the manufacturing costs are similar.
