Presumably Belle found it in a reasonable amount of time, say below 5 minutes, because it was playing under tournament time controls. Note that Prestige is much, much slower than Belle obviously. It runs on a tiny 4-mhz 6502. Still, the Spracklens have been able to come up with a nice little program that can play good chess. It took Prestige 57 minutes to find Belle's move: Rxh2! This was a 6-ply search and Prestige felt it was 2.67 pawns ahead after Rxh2. The principal variation is: Rxh2, Nxe4, Qh4, Ng3, Qxg3, Bd5. Stuart
