Actually, I like the French editions of Asterix.  Some of the puns don't
translate ferpectly into English 8-).  I picked up four of the books
when I was in Montreal in January, including "Le Fils d'Asterix", which
was, to say the least, very entertaining.  The names are slightly different
in French, and my favorite character was forgotton!!

English			French		Job

Asterix			Asterix		Hero...short, maybe, but...
Obelix			Obelix		Hero's Best Friend
Dogmatix		???		Obelix's puppy (my favorite)
Getafix			Panoramix	Druid
Cacophonix		Assuratourcix	Bard (and not a good one at that!)
Vitalstatistix		Abracourcix	Tribal Leader.

And of course, there are the usual collection of inept Roman legions!
I don't remember the French for Dogmatix ofhand...but I will try to
post it later....
