They are no competition at all for good binoculars, but they are a lot better than K-Mart models. I have a hunch that Zykkor (Japanese--with Hong Kong assembly?) is trying to crack the U.S. market and is giving extra-good prices to build up some volume. I bought them from Camera World and Sound, 104 West 32nd St., NYC, 10001, (212) 563-8770. They even had 7 x 35 binocs for $20, but they didn't focus closer than about 40 feet. Has anybody heard of Zykkor? Will the lenses dissolve in the rain? -- David H. Copp
