A typical (ficticious) one might appear in net.nyborg as follows: Dale Gywifique The opinions expressed are entirely my own and not those of my employer, widgets of america. Well, people; I can understand this if you happen to be working for a company that manufactures nyborg, but as EVERYONE knows, widgets have absolutely NOTHING to do with nyborg. There is no way that someone could confuse your opinion in net.nyborg with those of its employer. As a more concrete example, I would not post such a disclaimer in net.auto, since my employer, Hewlett-Packard, does not make cars. On the other hand, I would be very careful about responses to net.micro.hp. I consider needless disclaimers to be an affront to my intellegence (possibly deserved) and a sign of sheer egotism on the part of the author. I welcome opinions on this matter; feel free to route constructive comments to: Dave Barrett hplabs!hp-dcd!barrett (No disclaimer here, since hp does not (intentionally) manufacture flames :-)
