Actually the law doesn't say anything of the kind. At least a couple of weeks ago it didn't. The whole issue has arisen from an INTERPRETATION of existing law by the NJ Supreme Court. The Supreme Court's OPINION seems to imply the situation as Larry describes it. However, that interpretation will probably be challenged the first time it is cited, then the whole appeal and review process will start over. Even the court opinion noted that this was an area where action by the legislature was more appropriate than judicial intervention. Remember, New Jersey's laws are made by the legislature, the legislature is made up of lawyers, and the rest of us are in trouble. How about the legislatures's refusal to consider giving the options of initiative and referendum to the citizens? The New Jersey legislature blows beets.
