The manager of the Pizzeria Uno in Harvard Square says that 90% of his customers opt for the no-smoking area when asked for their preference. But given the choice of waiting 30-40 minutes to get seated in the no-smoking area or sitting immediately in a smoking area, "most people will change their minds," the manager said. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- One wonders if the city ordinance specifically prohibits increasing the no-smoking space above 25% (there *is* a strong tobacco lobby in the state). One wonders if the manager might understand that the demand for no-smoking tables is an indication that people really do want them. (Nah--can't be) Later in the article the manager says that he hasn't had any problems with walkouts as he had feared; I find this strange since I have walked out of that establishment in the past for just that reason--of course, maybe he doesn't think the loss of *my* business a problem.
