You will then have MANY ashtrays. Since they are gifts from those you don't want to offend, you will have to keep them, and prominently display them. There goes your resolve... (We don't smoke, but yet have many ashtrays. The ones not stuffed in drawers are full of pens, paper clips, etc. The few smoking guests don't cause enough ill effects to be worth the effort of hassling them.)
