The Unix on this machine has virtual memory, uses the FPA (heavily!), and has IPC facilities. >When you UNIX folks are ready for a REAL operating system, try VMS! VMS, a real OS? Naw, VMS is an OS of the '60s. Unix, on the other hand, is an OS of the '70s. The local VMS systems people have a much longer bug list for their OS than I do. Of course, that's not nearly as funny as the month it took them to get one of my DMF-32's running under VMS. One of these days, DEC will even get the synch line running, which is why they borrowed the silly thing. >!decwrl!rhea!coevax [Murf,Croteau,Lemaire,Ryan] > "people who have known and hated UNIX" Gee, I've known and hated Unix. I've also known and hated VMS. Trouble is, I can't get the right OS on the right box. I want Unix on my home system, where I get an RSX-11 clone; and I want VMS on the VAX at work, where I get Unix. >UNIX Is a tradmark of Bell Labs. >VAX,VMS Is a tradmark of Digital Equipment Corporation. Yup, except it's spelled "trademark".
