When I poked about in Brookline, Mass in re getting a pistol permit, I was told
the only way my application would even be considered was if I had a place to
shoot: if I was a member of a club or range (which was my aim at the time), or
if I had a job which required a permit.  But once you have the permit, it
certainly doesn't restrict you to keeping your pistol at the range or at work;
and I would assume the same lack of this restriction applies to the Golden
State.
