Can a dragon flame you, or hit you at all, when he stands right next to you
while you are standing on a scare monster scroll?

It seems to me that the only games when I ever got more than one scare monster
scroll was when I successfully identified it without reading it.  Is it the
case that reading a (presumably unidentified) scare monster scroll will ensure
that you won't find another for the rest of the game?
